In view of my comments the other day that some folks took the wrong way, i thought i'd do some explaining.
DNA
Deoxy-ribonuecleic acid is made from a 5 carbon sugar(deoxy-ribose),a nuecleotide base that is hooked to a protien. There are six protiens that make up all of all the genetic material of every living thing on this planet! I could wax very phylosophical at this point but I'll save that for later. idividual nuecleotides are hooked together in a chain by hydroxyl bonds(That make them, technically an acid)into long chains. the chains are then hooked together in pairs by Hydrogen bonds to form the famous "double helix".
Triplet Codons
individual neucleotides are grouped in threes called a codon. idividual codons, by themselves, mean nothing. These in turn are grouped into strings within the greater string, called sequences. Some sequences assemble idividual molecules.Others assemble molecules into tissues. And other yet, assemble tissues into organs. some sequences tell the other sequences when to do what. yet others lie dormant and wait for environmental conditions to kick them into activity. Some of these sequences are just junk left over from when our ancestors were algae, fish, and dinosaurs. Many of these sequences are common to every living thing! As organisms move up the evolutionary ladder, toward human beings, these sequences become more and more common. All of us, for good or for ill, have alot of identical DNA.
There are about fifteen billion codons in human DNA. About 450 million of them differentiate us from chimpanzees. maybe some statistician will tell us how many possible differnt combinations there are of 6 differnt neuclotides, arranged 450 million different ways. I can asure you, it is a very large number.
i mentioned the the aboriginal people of austrailia were slightly diffent genetically from the rest of humanity. This is largely due to their long isolation from the rest of humanity. That number would be about 1.5 Million individual codons. This too is a large number, but it pales in comparison to the first one. the significant differnce is statisticlly ONLY!
now the philosophical part. "We are startdust, We are carbon". All of our atoms came from our sun. And other stars before they were our sun! All living lings on this planet share a common bond. As humans, we are all very much alike. We share identical molecules, tissues , and organ systems. genetically, the things that make us differnt from one another may be just a few million codons!the things that make one race differnt from another may only be a few hundred thousand!!! There is absolutley no scientific evidence that one race or ethnic group is either superior or inferior to another.
It is in fact cultural biases, stigmas, and taboos the inhibit people from reaching their full potential.

Baco thanks as always for sharing your wealth of information with us. Facosco/John this information is readily available on your computer at any time, so maybe stay up late and do a little research before coming into this room of good and decent people and upsetting them by asking questions you could answer yourself. peace and love to all you carbon based life forms out there and celebrate our differences no matter how small they might be.
